One Chef at a Time has been a very successful catalyst for the new evolving 'Culinary Arts Foundation of Thailand' We intend to continue with the success of OCaaT but with a wider prospectus and more students.
Over the past 6 years we have learned and continue to improve successful methods of teaching and to maintain the syllabus to accommodate current market trends within the industry. We teach what the industry needs!.
The keenness and enthusiasm beams from the students. In turn it gives us the energy to continue and progress further.
The establishment of 'The Culinary Arts Foundation of Thailand' will enable us to reach even more aspiring chefs and also train front of house skills.
We still have the same mission and vision statements to follow and continue to care about our students success.
We have an outreach program which monitors the success and happiness of our students once they have completed the course and take the huge step of full time employment. This outreach program is essential. Fear and loneliness are very real as they rent a room and start work. Previously the majority of students will have been living in dormitories or in refugee camps and to make this move where they are leaving friends and starting out alone can be very daunting.
So, onto the objectives of the Foundation. With Foundation legal status we are allowed to fundraise and have a dedicated bank account. There can be tax benefits to donors and corporate sponsors, however it is our regular donors who have kept us going until now and I hope we can continue this relationship.
Our plan is simple:
Build a professional training kitchen to accommodate up to 16 student Chefs per course
Provide English language lessons geared towards kitchen and customer service
Attach a 24 seater restaurant to the kitchen for restaurant studies
Arrange affiliation with a university to endorse the qualifications achieved by the students
To invite industry specialists to teach their chosen topics
To build formal relationships with governing bodies such as Ministry of Education and hotel/restaurant chains
To establish financial security for a long term venture
